“His death was gang-involved, the way I see it,” lamented former Orange County Sheriff’s Detective Ron Thomas after viewing the mangled body of his 37-year-old son, Kelly. “A gang of rogue officers … brutally beat my son to death.”
The description of the crime is appropriate: Kelly Thomas was murdered by a thugscrum of at least six police officers on a sidewalk in Fullerton. Kelly, who had a criminal record, was a homeless adult who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. On the evening of July 5, police were called to a street near the Fullerton bus depot by a report that someone was burglarizing parked cars.
Kelly was identified as a suspect, and was uncooperative with the police. He was tasered at least five times and beaten until brain-dead while pleading with the officers and crying out for his father. Multiple eyewitness accounts have disclosed that the beating continued – punctuated by the familiar demand that the victim “stop resisting!” — long after Kelly was on his back, motionless and defenseless.
That this was a gang-involved murder is indisputable. With all proper respect to Ron Thomas, however, the grieving father is desperately wrong about one detail: The murderers were not “rogue officers.” Once the gang assault on Kelly began, practically the only thing that could have saved his life would have been the timely intervention of a rogue officer.
As an institution, the police do not exist to defend life, liberty, and property. That would be the role played by peace officers — a population that is, for all intents and purposes, extinct. Police are given the task of “enforcement” – the imposition of rules devised by, and on behalf of, the wealth-devouring class. That role includes dispensing summary punishment against people who display anything other than instant, unqualified submission to them and to the political order they embody. Any material good that is done by a police officer is a renegade act, given the nature and purposes of the institution that employs him. ……

The OC DA deserves a best actor award for his dramatics and feigned emotion. He has sunk to a new low using his power to advance his political ambitions at the expense of two officers who were dealing with a rapidly escalating situation with a person who was known (by his family) to be very violent. His own mother had a restraining order filed against him. It is well known that he once physically attacked his grandfather. His father when contacted by local police would say that he (Kelly) was their problem now.
When Ramos says, “See these fists, They’re getting ready to f— you up,” he ALSO says, “iF YOU DON’T F-ING START LISTENING.”. Something that the DA likes to omit when miss quoting Ofc. Ramos.
Another thing the DA and now the media so conveniently neglect to include is Thomas’ response, “START PUNCHING DUDE.”
Does that sound like someone who is in fear for his life?
Even RonThomas admits to using force with Kelly,

Was he supposed to know that he SHOULD BE, YOU MORON? You realize your oh-so-brilliant question ASSUMES fore-knowledge of impending death? In other words, for the simple-brained, when dealing with cops, just assume you are going to die, and speak and act accordingly. Does that sound like a police force YOU WANT in the USA?
There’s at least 300+ pounds LAYING on him, BRUTALLY BEATING HIM TO DEATH, while he’s “not compliant” in rolling over, moving his arms away from his face, on and on with commands which were impossible to follow while being KILLED under the weight of the animals who are in the process of murdering him.
LIFE is an INALIENABLE RIGHT, and he OWNED the right to defend himself, but not by your pea-brained logic. GTF off the force if you feel as you do. Citizens DO NOT WANT TO PAY YOU TO THINK THIS WAY, NOR ACT ON THOSE THOUGHTS.
As for the the DA’s “acting” ability, agian, ARE YOU STUPID? Do you not realize THE WHOLE WORLD, including GOOD cops, FEEL (oh, yes, there are non-sociopaths on the force, imagine!) just like the DA? Your entire post SCREAMS “psychopath.” Only a psychopath could watch that whole video and feel nothing for Kelly Thomas. I suppose you are used to FEELING NOTHING, which is the ENTIRE problem! No ability to empathize, SEE A SHRINK, and again, GTFO the force!
