Central Florida Police Officers, Your community needs to see you conducting yourselves just like Officer Matt Lyons did in this video.
Officer Matt Lyons, Badge #1093 of the Oceanside Police Department your conduct in this video was impeccable, we need more cops just like you in America. Thank You.
Jeremy, you conducted yourself with respect, professionalism and stood your ground while exercising your rights. Well Done Sir.

Dear Jeremy,
Thanks for scaring officer Lyons’ neighbors into calling the cops so you could make your YouTube video.
Cop Baiting: Fail.
While I can understand how someone might see this as cop baiting let’s look at it like this….in the location where this video was made it is lawful to open carry a firearm. Althought Jeremy probably should have given some thought about how the general public might perceive him exercising his right, the option to conceal carry may not have been available to him due to local laws or licensing restrictions. So rather than violate a law he chose to open carry – which, again, is his right in that location.
Yes, this video demonstrates a great response by the officer and by Jeremeny. However, I have a problem with the officer disarming Jeremy immediately upon contact. I understand the concept of officer safety. But if it is legally allowed for a citizen to open carry in this location how is it legal for the officer to disarm a person exercising their legal right to carry? I don’t know the answer to this and I am sure there are plenty of opinions. But I would like to see some responses with supporting information rather than just “what-ifs” and personal opinions.
I don’t care if it was cop baiting or what. You seem to have missed the point. Perhaps you should visit the state I live in, Texas, and see how the cops here would have responded to this situation. It would have looked very different. Kudos to officer Lyons for being a good cop! And thank you to Orlando Cop Watch for posting a video of a cop doing his job well. It makes videos of bad cops so much more disturbing when you are reminded of how they should – and could – behave.
