34-year-old Mark Ashford never thought being a Good Samaritan could hurt so much.
“I just kept yelling and screaming, ‘Stop, Stop, Stop,” Ashford told FOX31 Denver. “And it never stopped.”
The former Denver resident was walking his dogs near 20th and Little Raven Street in March of 2010 when he witnessed what he thought was an unjust traffic stop and offered to help the driver.
That’s when Denver Police officer Jeff Cook and Officer John Diaz turned on him.
Ashford was beaten up and arrested. The incident was captured on tape by the Denver Police Department’s own HALO cameras.
